Music Ministry
Music is an integral part of worship at Greenwood. Through a joyful, active ministry involving choral and handbell music, we hope to glorify God and bring both the performers and hearers to a closer relationship with God. The music we offer comes from our heart and is scriptural, doctrinal and has musical integrity. We welcome all interested members and friends and encourage them to participate in our programs.
The Chancel Choir provides music for the 10:30 Sunday services as well as special services during the Advent and Lenten seasons. The Choir, which rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7:15-9:00, is open to all adults. Just come with a love of singing and a desire to participate in a very meaningful way in the worship experience.
Joyful Song is our elementary-age choir and meets Sunday evenings 5:00-6:00. We enjoy singing, learning to read music, and playing chimes and handbells. Joyful Song participates in worship approximately once a month. Goals for our Children's Choir include:
- providing religious, educational, and recreational opportunities for the children
- developing an understanding of worship
- encouraging a sense of personal responsibility and cooperation and
- presenting worthy music, well-prepared, to the glory of God.
The Handbell Ensemble is open to youth and adults. Participants need some music-reading ability and a willingness to attend rehearsals on Sundays following the second worship service. We play in worship as preparedness allows.
